MMS: Fashion Exhibition From Mini to Maxi “Fashion from the 1960s" from the collection of Alexandre Vassiliev

Last week we enjoyed an inspiring excursion into fashion history. Several IWAV ladies attended exhibition at the Applied Arts Museum dedicated to fashion showing authentic and rare items from Vassiliev’s collection starting from dresses from the 19th century to the 1980s with a special focus on the 60s.
We went through the whole array of emotions from sheer bewilderment at how, at the beginning of the 19th century, women would use tight corseting to achieve what’s known as a “wasp waist” effect and would be always fainting from inability to breathe... to an overwhelming fascination at rare “haute couture” items from 50s and 60s looking like absolute works of art.
The exhibition offers to attendees an impressive collection of dresses and accessories from such designers as Chanel, Dior, Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Cardin, Courrèges, Laroche, Cassini, Valentino and others.
The exhibition includes original paintings and large format photographs of women wearing clothes from the featured decades.

Very inspiring indeed!
Enjoy the photos! (flash was not allowed, hence lack of sharpness in some of them)

Thanks to Diana Zarembiene for organizing this visit!
